Your Time Is Now

"Here & Now" Road Sign with dramatic clouds and sky.A week ago today, I met this amazing young lady. She was very beautiful, delighted to be alive and serving communities around the world. She was humble, ready to welcome strangers with a smile and make them feel at home in her world. If you had asked her what her life would be ten years ago, she would have certainly given you a wrong answer.

Through unimaginable life challenges, she was able to give a new meaning to her own life. As the saying goes, “it is not what happens to you but how you react to it”, that determines the outcome in your life.

Please meet Mrs Chelsea Dinsmore from Live Your Legend in her article” 3 Crucial Concepts to Overcome Any Challenge”

As some of you know, last month I took the stage in Portland, Oregon and delivered a keynote speech at the World Domination Summit. In a previous post, I laid out how I prepared, but today it’s time to share the message I shared with that audience with all of you…

Change Is the Only Constant

I’ve had people tell me over the last year, “you’re so strong,” but I really don’t see myself as any different than anyone else. I am not any stronger than any one of you, I’ve just worked really (really!) hard to learn how to navigate change and loss as a result of the cards I was dealt.

And given that we live in an ever-changing world, loss is inevitable for all of us… And I don’t only mean physical loss. All change is accompanied by loss, because in order for things to change, you must lose one thing before you gain another.

So, given that change and loss are bound to happen to every one of us, today I share a few of the ways that helped me deal with big changes alongside big challenges.

Because at some stage we will all come across changes that challenge us. And I see being able to manage those changes (and losses) in a resourceful way as the key to living a full and happy life—to truly living out your legend—because in my opinion, happiness is not a result, it’s a choice.

3 Crucial Concepts to Overcome Any Challenge

1. HOW YOU DO ANYTHING IS HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING

Now I definitely do not get credit for this quote or concept. It is an idea that has been floating around for quite some time—but as we know, knowledge is nothing without execution. And actually living out this seemingly simple idea is not necessarily easy. However, it is fairly straight forward—how you do the small things is how you do the big things, and vice versa.

Which is why it is important to remember that moments matter. Because in any given moment you are making a choice—to act in a way that honors you and others, to focus on what you do have or what you don’t, to appreciate or to resist what is. And those decisions in the moment dictate how you do the small things, which dictates how you do the big things.

The more you can get aligned with who you are and what you value, and act in ways that are congruent with that, the more you you begin to live out this principle with all things—small and large.

2. CURIOSITY CULTIVATES CREATIVITY

If someone would have told me ahead of time that I would go through this experience, I would have told you that there was no way that I could ever survive such a thing. But this became my new reality and I had a choice to make—could I find a way to live with what happened, or was I going to lose myself because of it?

And even though I had no idea how to go forward, I admitted that I had a choice. Which led me to deciding to dedicate this year to growth and approach everything I came across, good and bad, with endless curiosity.

In the midst of the most challenging times, I chose to live out the principles that we teach here at Live Your Legend of becoming a self-expert, doing my own impossible and surrounding myself with passionate people. I got out of my comfort zone consistently and took on challenges and things that scared me. One of which was keeping Scott’s mission and vision alive through this business. I had no idea how to run a business. I had no idea I was capable of writing articles or filming videos or doing interviews or creating courses…

But because I questioned whether I could rather than told myself I could not, I have done more “impossible” things in the last year than I ever could have dreamed I was capable of.

When you stay endlessly curious, it inspires you to get creative. It inspires you to “figure it out” even when you don’t know how—because staying hungry is the how.

3. WIDEN YOUR WORLD

It is so very easy to feel as if our lives are all about our own little world. It would have been a lot more comfortable to hide away instead of show up in the world and share the myriad of uncomfortable emotions I have felt. It would have been a lot easier to tell myself, “Chelsea, things are already hard enough, you don’t need to take on any more challenges!”

But on September 12, 2015 my life stopped being about me and started being about the world around me. The people I come in contact with, whether they are close or distant, are far more important than my own suffering. Because I have realized something… that we are only alone when we choose to be.
